What is your area of expertise?

One area of expertise in teacher education is my commitment to integration of educational technology. Another is promoting the importance of multilingualism and multiculturalism. I’m delighted to be influencing other scholars around the world related to teacher education and applied linguistics. This is reflected in Google scholar citations, which I find rewarding to see growing and expanding over the years. I had no idea that what would happen and that I would influence other scholars and teacher education practitioners.

How long and in what capacity have you served CCTE?

I just started recently, but I’ve been involved in California teacher education for at least 10 years.

How do you achieve your commitment to equity, excellence, and innovation in educator preparation in your everyday work as a teacher educator? In your work for CCTE?

I feel that it’s my duty to be committed to the everyday work of raising awareness about multiculturalism and multilingualism in my work as a teacher educator.

How did you become actively involved with CCTE?

An administrator in my working team pointed out to me an opportunity which I was not aware of. I’m thankful for that guidance and for pointing me in the right direction.

Always being an advocate for multilingual learners, and multilingual teachers in the state of California.
