Dr. Hsieh is proud to have recently launched an Educational Doctorate (EdD), praxis-focused doctoral degree in Teacher Education and Teacher Learning for Justice at the University of Washington, geared to support working professionals in earning a terminal degree that will allow them to support preservice teachers and teachers in the field through curriculum design, coaching, and professional learning opportunities.

Dr. Betina Hsieh has published widely in peer reviewed journals and presented over 75 research papers globally on issues related to teaching, teacher education, teacher professional identity, teachers of color, and Asian Americans in education. Her current research interests include identity-informed mentoring in teacher education spaces, the emergence and development of a teacher (and teacher educator) professional identity, Asian American MotherScholars, and the experiences of teachers of color.  Recent publications include articles in Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, the Journal of Teacher Education, and Race, Ethnicity and Education. Outside of work, Dr. Hsieh is a wife and mother to 4 children (ages 10-36) and a small dog.  She loves making and eating delicious food and taking pictures of it. She is constantly pursuing better work-life balance and boundary setting.
